Q: How do I return or exchange jewelry?
A:For returns and exchanges, please email us at Contact@muyinjewelry.com. Keep in mind customized jewelry (such as birthstone jewelry or customsized rings) cannot be returned. Depending on the design, we can sometimes alter or resize the jewelry.
If you purchased our jewelry through Amazon: Amazon does not have a built-in exchange process, so you will need to return the incorrect size and place a new order for the correct size.

Order & Shipping
Q: How soon can I expect to receive my order?
A: All jewelry is made to order and usually takes 7–12 days to create (sometimes sooner). Depending on the shipping address and shipping method selected at checkout, most domestic customers receive their orders in 2–3 weeks, while international customers receive their orders in 3–8 weeks. Please keep in mind that transit time is in addition to processing time.
Q: I understand your jewelry is made to order, but I really need it urgently. Is there any way I can get it sooner?
A: We can usually accommodate that for an extra charge. Please see the rush-order options at checkout.
Q: I’m buying the jewelry as a gift. Can you send it directly to the recipient and gift-wrap it for me?
A: Absolutely! All orders are packed in jewelry boxes by default, and we will gladly include a gift note for the recipient upon request. Simply type your gift note in the message box at checkout.

Q: Does your jewelry tarnish?
A: We use solid sterling silver and 14k gold-filled metal for our jewelry. These metals may tarnish (turn color) over time, although the speed and degree of tarnishing vary depending on the wearer and storage conditions. To slow tarnishing, store the jewelry in an airtight bag or with anti-tarnish strips.
Tarnished jewelry can be cleaned using jewelry-cleaning solutions sold at fine jewelers. You can also clean the jewelry using baking soda or toothpaste.
Q: How do I take care of my sterling silver or 14k gold-filled jewelry?
A: Avoid exposure to chemicals, saltwater, hand lotion, perfume, and high-humidity environments. If you perspire, clean the jewelry with purified water afterward.
If your water is chlorinated, we recommend taking off your jewelry before bathing. Never wear your jewelry in hot tubs or swimming pools; this will corrode and weaken the metal over time.
If your water is filtered and not chlorinated, rinsing the jewelry occasionally can help remove perspiration, dirt, and moisturizer.
While sterling silver will tarnish over time, most people do not have an issue with 14k gold-filled jewelry tarnishing. If yours changes color quickly, it may be due to one of the external factors mentioned above.
You can also purchase jewelry-cleaning solutions or take your jewelry to a local jeweler for cleaning. Many jewelers offer this service at no charge.
Q: If you use real gold, why does your gold jewelry turn my skin green?
A: If jewelry turns your skin green, your skin is reacting to the copper content in 14k gold. This does not happen often, but it is a natural phenomenon and not a manufacturer’s defect.
Our rings are made with 14k gold-filled metal, which consists of a thick layer of 14k gold bonded to a base metal. Because 14k gold is an alloy containing gold and copper, some people’s skin reacts to the copper and turns green. This is harmless and can be wiped off easily.
To help avoid this reaction:
- Coat the inside of the ring with a product such as Jewelry Shield or clear nail polish. Reapply it when the coating wears off.
- Keep your fingers dry, as hand moisturizers and perspiration can cause a reaction.
- Remove the ring before showering, swimming, or entering a hot tub, as chlorine can react with the metal.
Q: How should I care for my freshwater pearl jewelry?
A: Avoid sun, chemicals, perspiration, perfume, and drastic changes in humidity. Direct sunlight can harm the luster and cause the color to fade, while dryness may cause pearls to crack.
Clean pearls with fresh water and store them in a dark pouch or jewelry box. Do not soak them in any jewelry-cleaning solution that is not intended for pearls.

Q: Are your pearls real?
A: Yes, we use high-quality freshwater pearls with real nacre. This also means they may have natural surface blemishes when inspected closely.
Q: Is your gold jewelry made with real gold?
A: We certainly use real gold in our jewelry, although the best way to answer this question is to explain its gold content.
Most of our jewelry is made with 14k gold-filled metal, although we also offer a few designs in solid 14k gold and solid 18k gold.
The short answer is that the gold in our jewelry does not fade over time like gold-plated metal. The gold content in 14k gold-filled metal is high enough for it to qualify as fine jewelry, and the metal costs significantly more than sterling silver.
The detailed answer is:
- 14k gold-filled metal: “Gold-filled” is a very thick layer of gold bonded to a base metal. We use solid 14k gold over brass. This thick gold layer can last for decades without wearing off like regular gold plating or vermeil (gold over sterling silver). Its gold content is high enough for it to be considered a precious metal.
- Solid 14k gold: 58.5% of the metal is gold (14 out of 24 parts pure gold). Our solid 14k gold jewelry is stamped “14k.”
- Solid 18k gold: 75% of the metal is gold (18 out of 24 parts pure gold). Our solid 18k gold jewelry is stamped “18k.”
Q: Are your gemstones real?
A: Yes, we use only high-quality natural gemstones in our designs. They are not dyed, lab-created, glass, or plastic. Most are hand-cut in India or Thailand. They may vary in size, shade, and cut, and may have natural inclusions.
Q: Can I send back my mother’s birthstone jewelry to add stones when our family grows?
A: It depends on the design you choose. Circle of Love and Open Heart are two designs that can be sent back to have new stones added. A small service charge and return shipping cost will apply.
Q: I’m very sensitive to metal. Can I wear 14k gold-filled jewelry?
A: If you can wear solid 14k gold, you can generally wear 14k gold-filled jewelry. Some people with extremely sensitive skin can wear only purer gold, such as 18k or higher. Please be aware that we cannot be responsible for allergic reactions to metal.

A: We currently do not sell locally or appear at shows. However, we offer private jewelry parties within the greater Portland area. If you are interested in hosting one, please contact us for details.
